Bear with me as I pay tribute to myself. ;-) Cocky, yes, but it’s my blogging birthday this weekend. I’m going to divide this up into two parts fittingly, because this blog is two years old. :)
Can you believe it’s been two years already? May 20, 2004 I started this blog with really no expectations and no real non-web development experience. It was something that I could do and tinker with and I never expected it to go much farther than that. My family doesn’t read my blogs (that I know of) without me sending links. My friends are all computer illiterate. Basically, I didn’t really expect much to come of the blog and wasn’t trying to do much with it.
This past year has been bigger and better than I ever expected. A year ago, I celebrated one year of blogging thinking I had accomplished something special. I had, but this year brings even more excitement because I’ve sought to make a name for myself rather than just write into a black hole.
The year has seen many changes as a result. A lot of highlights (and lowlights), and I’m definitely looking forward to another year.
On May 31st, I found out that Feedster had chosen my feed as the Feedster Feed of the Day. June 6th the news dropped that we might have an Intel based Mac. A year later, it’s all the rage.
On July 1st, I made the prediction that Alberto Gonzales would be named to the U.S. Supreme Court to relpace Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. That didn’t happen as Justice Samuel Alito was confirmed instead.
I posted about a Day in the Life of a Desktop Support Technician on July 18th, a satirical entry that any desktop support tech can relate to. :) This was followed on July 29th by a the War on Terror through the Eyes of the Bourne Shell. I obviously did not have a lot on my plate in July!
On August 16th began my first real opportunity for building my profile. I announced the writing of You Can Blog with Jeremy Wright. Though this book is still in the editorial process (it needs to get done!), the chan to teach and impart some of the things that I have learned from blogging to bloggers of all stripes was (and is!) exciting.
I lashed out at fellow Christians for radicalism, Particularly Pat Robertson for endorsing the idea of assassination againast Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.
On August 31st, I paid tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Little did I know that a mere 11 days later, I’d be on the gulf coast for three weeks helping with cleanup.
