Feed Subscription List

Posted by: Aaron Brazell

I’ve got a lot of subscriptions. 235 to be exact. If you’re interested, you can see them here. I take no credit for what you might find.

And that’s my point. I need to go through and slim down because there’s really no reason for some of the feeds. I just don’t read some blogs and yes, this post is inspired by Jeremy who has gone from 800 to 75 feeds.

You might notice some things about the subscription list. There is an A-list which is a recent addition thanks to Darren’s idea. These are blogs that I read first and the ones I pay the most attention to. If there’s an entry from one of these bloggers, I immediately stop and read while others I might skim.

Near the bottom are all the b5 blogs. Many of these I don’t read, so I could theoretically toss them.

Update: Pruning now…

Nice and clean. My bloglines still shows 1235 feeds, but I've been using it for searches as well .. they are not all blogs but news feeds .. For instance, for my Schizophrenia blog .. I have about a dozen search terms and derivatives related to being schizophrenic. For my PetLvr blog I have about 40. Despite that, it's all organized by blog network or by general topic. If I were to organize it by "dailies, weeklies" or "A-List, B-List" it would never get organized and I would definately lose myself in the forest reading the trees.

If I may ask .. when people post their bloglines publicly, do readers UNsubscribe you because now they know you are not reading their blog? (don't worry about me though, I rarely unsubscribe and my blogs are unexciting anyway)

Just make a folder for the b5'ers. Then you can kep and eye on them, but if the feeds get to big just open and close the folder and it will reset. When I get overwhelmed I know that the feeds won;t be read but skimmed. I try to stay on top of mine, I have whittled them down to about 135. I need to get them down to about 30. LOL

Each folder for me is like a new network.

I meant to ask whether you use bloglines for search feeds?
