Last night was the dinner with bloggers/blogger meetup event at Vergil’s BBQ near Times Square. It was an interesting evening. Besides Jeremy and I, other folks coming out were Stowe Boyd of social networking fame, Yvonne Divita, of Dickless Marketing persuasion and her husband, Tom Collins.
It was a good night. Yvonne is Jeremy’s publicist for his book, Blog Marketing. Stowe was a hard guy to read. He’s a brilliant guy with a common sense approach to what he does, but I just couldn’t seem to make heads or tails of him; whether to like him or not.
It was a great chance to meet some new folks and share ideas. From one conversation, there seems to be a common consensus that trying to get other people, particularly those new to blogging, to understand that they do have something to say is the most challenging thing for those of us who try to get people to blog.
We’re staying in New Jersey which is okay when it comes to hotel rates, but sucks when it comes to getting back from NYC when taking public transportation. Getting into NY is easy enough but after midnight, bus routes back to “somewhere in the neighborhood” was extremely confusing. Jeremy and I ended up wandering in some really interesting neighborhoods because we got on the wrong bus. We ended up calling a cab. Did you know that I speak a different language? I must becase trying to communicate with NJ Transit folks about the correct buses and stops was like pulling teeth…
