In my job, Microsoft Office is huge. Currently, we are running Office 2003 (i.e. Office 11) and that likely won’t change soon. It usually takes several years for a technology to stabilize before mass migrations are made.
However, I’m always looking ahead and Office 12, which the Office 12 Watch is about, looks very very nice. Even if I’m no fan of Microsoft. Theoretically, the entire UI can change.
Still, we do know Microsoft has put loads into research and development and likely will change the UI context that has been in place for literally years (menus stuffed with an increasing number of features that have become tough to find).
